Employing top-rated fitness instructors, trainers and athletes - all certified in their specific fields – The Club at The Claremont provides expert instruction in a wide variety of activities from strength training and ski conditioning to pre-natal exercise tips and basic or advanced yoga and pilates. The Club’s fitness training team focuses on the overall wellness of the mind and body and believes that individuals must first and foremost be comfortable with themselves, inside and out. We measure our success not just by the number of pounds lost but by how our guests measure their self-worth. Fitness Director at The Club at The Claremont, Michael has been an instructor at The Claremont since 1999. His extensive background in dance makes him an expert in creative fitness techniques and alternatives. Whether he’s teaching an aerobics class, spinning or The Club’s Muscle, Fluidity and Stillness class, all core movements are choreographed. His “core” oriented philosophy uses Pilates and Yoga to promote a long, centered physique, like that of a dancer, which he believes are the basics of becoming an excellent athlete. His choreographed moves are low-key but effective in keeping the whole body trained and balanced from head to toe. “Attacking” the body with dozens of movements and exercises keep the central nervous system always slightly off-guard instead of settling into patterns and taking it easy. Simpson’s enthusiasm for fitness and wellness rubs off on every staff member whose caring, creative and passionate attitudes help them truly connect with Club members and resort guests. After training Kevin MacKenzie, director of American Ballet Theater, Simpson has gained much clout in the fitness and dance community. His specialties include back-packing, stress relief, couples stretching, dance-based strength techniques, yoga and pilates. |
